Nos Estados Unidos, a revista Billboard iniciou em 1894, publicando listas das partituras musicais mais vendidas. Na década de 1920, ela passou a classificar os discos 78 rpm mais vendidos no país. Tendo como seu foco principal o mercado norte-americano, a Billboard também passou a publicar listas dos discos mais vendidos em todo o mundo.

Nota:
A Billboard, em sua edição de 29 de janeiro de 1966, publica a única vez em que quatro canções de Rita Pavone aparecem na Itália, na mesma parada: "Stasera con te" (1º lugar); "Plip" (6º lugar); "Solo tu" (10º lugar); "Supercalifragilistic-espiralidoso" (14º lugar).
Isso prova que Rita Pavone teve dois períodos de ouro na Itália. O primeiro foi em 1963, com o sucesso de seus discos. Nos anos de 1964 e 1965, ela se dedicou mais à sua carreira internacional, especialmente nos EUA e América latina. O segundo período de ouro foi em 1966 quando Rita, devido à sua forte presença na TV nacional, comandou os programas STASERA: RITA! (final de 1965) e STUDIO UNO (primavera de 1966).

US's Billboard magazine started publication of best selling music-sheet in 1894. In the 1920s it added the ranking of the best selling 78 rpm records in the country. Even though Billboard's main concern was the US record market it started publishing lists of Best Selling Records around the world.

Note:
Billboard's issue of the 29 January 1966 shows Rita Pavone placing an unprecedented number of four songs in the Italian charts: "Stasera con te" at Number One; "Plip" at #6; "Solo tu" at #10; "Supercalifragilistic-espiralidoso" at #14.
That only comes to prove Rita Pavone had two "heavy charting" periods in Italy. Rita's first period was 1963, then she was side-tracked with her international career, especially in the USA and Latin America. Her second "heavy charting" period was 1966, when Rita had a heavy presence on national TV. First with her own STASERA: RITA! in late 1965, and then her commanding of STUDIO UNO in the spring of 1966.
